Hijama is an ancient traditional practice that involves creating suction on the skin using cups.

  • Cupping therapy is an ancient healing practice that dates back over 3,500 years, with roots in traditional Chinese medicine, Egyptian, and Middle Eastern cultures. It is used to promote healing by increasing blood flow, reducing muscle tension, and removing toxins from the body.
  • Types of Cupping:

    1- Dry Cupping: Only suction is used.

    2- Wet Cupping (Hijama): After suction, small incisions are made to draw out a small amount of blood.
  • How Cupping Therapy Works:

  • Application of Cups Special cups (usually made of glass, silicone, or plastic) are placed on the skin. These cups create suction by using, a manual pump mechanism removes the air.

    Suction Effect :

    The suction pulls the skin and underlying tissues slightly into the cup.
    This increases blood flow to the area, stimulates the lymphatic system, and promotes healing.

    Duration of Treatment Cups are typically left in place for 5 to 15 minutes. In some techniques, the cups are moved around the skin (this is called massage cupping).
